Over the last few years, our regional and rural practice, MEGRAR has grown rapidly. Servicing the Mallee region of Victoria/NSW, in patient demand, and number of surgeon visits. Despite being well cared for by the MEG admin team in Melbourne and the wonderful sessional staff in Swan Hill and Mildura, nothing compares to having a permanent presence and ‘heart’ in the location the clinics service. COVID also helped us devise new models for delivering comprehensive telehealth care to our regional and rural ENT patients.

We listened to our patients and referrer feedback, and over the last 6 months have been busy creating a new model of our rural ENT service: Country ENT (CENT), a permanently regionally based ENT service which will replace our current Melbourne Administered service.

Whilst our increasing number of surgeons will still be visiting in-person, or virtually from Melbourne, our full-time CENT staff will be based in Mildura, and by partnering with country hearing care in a number of their permanent locations we hope to be able to provide a more consistent and locally based service, whilst still providing best practice ENT care, and unparalleled access to sub-specialist Melbourne based ENT care and tertiary hospitals where needed.

We also have some exciting new Telehealth services, and enhancements to our ENT home diagnostics delivery service – so stay tuned.
